Flatpack Festival

Flatpack are bringing the World Famous “Bicycle Basket Bazaar” to Cyclomania! The Ministry of Cycles and POD Projects present a unique array of retailers, all cramming their wares into bike-baskets and pannier-racks.

Kind of like a car boot sale, but more compact and kinder to the environment.

Hand Made / Home made goods and vintage wares only.

Goods Allowed: handmade, home made, home grown, vintage and collectibles, rays of sunshine.

Goods Not Allowed: live animals, poison, firearms, new goods, bad news, dark clouds.

No “New” goods, ie, bought in product.

The BBB is a celebration of the Bicycles as much as the product:

be creative with the space, small crates are acceptable to display goods and create slightly more space, but tables are a definite NO.

Ideally arrive on your bicycle.

The essence of the BBB is Bicycles, Creativity and good cheer.

An Alternative Christmas Pop-up at The Digbeth Custard Factory

Gibb Street, Gibb Street Warehouse, and across the Custard Factory

Digbeth Dining Club and Freak London have teamed up to bring a gourmet street food festival to Digmas at the Custard Factory, bringing an explosion of colours, flavours and fragrances to the old Victorian  arches and Gibb Street warehouse.

As well as showcasing culinary treats from around the world – brought to you by the aristocracy of UK street food artisans – we’re also presenting a Christmas bar serving our specialist menu of sumptuous hot and cold Christmas cocktails, hot toddies and mulled wines and ciders, as well as serving up a selection of cakes, sweets and seasonal treats.

Topping off the vibes in our Digmas Diner, we’ll be supporting local talent in Brum by showcasing live music, DJs, art exhibitions and demos, along with offering plenty of interesting options for unique and creative chrimbo prezzies – all home-made by the talent in our town.

So come along and eat to the beat at Gibb Street!

The Original Patty Men The purveyors of the Krispy Kreme burger. Bring a defibrillator – these are definitely not for the faint of heart.

Food Yule Love The Digmas Diner ethos is about celebrating an alternative christmas culture, and what could be more alternative than serving up santa’s flying, furry friends? Yep, Reindeer is on the menu- folks, along with zebra, crocodile and kangaroo… don’t tell The Ethical Chef.

The Ethical Chef Deri Reed is The Ethical Chef. He’s the vegetarian ‘chef du jour’ and creates ingenious Welsh recipes from ingredients sourced on his doorstep. His ethical take on the glorious Mac n Cheese is destined to become a show-stopper at the Digbeth Diner.

The Meat Shack Proper, dirty burgers. Done to perfection, using the finest, meticulously researched and sourced ingredients – a guilty pleasure, the way a burger should be. Cooked in front of you using 28 dry aged local Hereford beef and real bread buns – if the picture of their burger doesn’t make your mouth water, please check your arm for a pulse.

Also featuring food from… The Hungry Toad who bring slow cooked chilli and burruitos to the party, pheasant and game being cooked up by the ominous-sounding Van29, Daisy Rocks will be parking up her converted coffee shack right next to our Christmas bar serving up coffees, shakes and cakes. There’s plenty more on it’s way too!

Stacked with our own concoctions of wonderfully spiced and warming Christmas cocktails, and set out with tons of seating, our Christmas pop-up bar is the perfect place to reward yourself with mulled wine and and music after a hard day’s work of eating and browsing.

Digmas across the Custard Factory

The Digmas Diner is part of the Digmas season at The Custard Factory, taking place over two weekends in December. With all of the shops and units participating, those four days will see the custard factory completely transformed into a vibrant street-festival with a carnival atmosphere – the type of thing Birmingham has long lacked! Digmas is a free, family day out incorporating the best of local culture and offering a brilliant opportunity to support Birmingham traders, artists and chefs in a celebration of the much-unsung culture in our area. With free parking, a host of free activities, entertainment and shopping opportunities – all inside and under cover – the Digmas Diner pop-up presents a fantastic alternative Christmas market this holiday season!

Thurs 8^th Nov: Sam Redmore - Sam Redmore is the resident DJ for the Freestyle, Left Foot, We Are One and Custom Made club nights in Birmingham. He will play funk, soul, hip hop and reggae to house, disco and rock. He has supported Roy Ayers, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Dreadzone, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Hexstatic, Crazy P, Norman Jay, Gilles Peterson and Hot 8 Brass Band in the past year.

Fri 9^th Nov: The Other Tribe – 6 x piece live act that deliver an energetic live show. Think jubilant techno, with tribal percussion, ravey keyboards and rhythms and catchy topline melodies sung in a crazed falsetto by someone eager to convey the idea that there’s a party going on right here, right now – it’s no wonder they have become a festival favourite.

Sat 10^th Nov: THePETEBOX –Pete’s approach to beatboxing has carried momentum in full swing throughout 2012. His YouTube video of his interpretation of the Pixies classic ‘Where Is My Mind’ went viral, amassing over 2.5 million views and received accolades from Blink 182’s bassist Mark Hopper, MTV and the Pixies themselves – who also added it on their website. His first studio album ‘Future Loops’ was released as live videos on YouTube leading to an official album release in April 2012, amassing over 4 million views to date.
