Publicity and Marketing Assistant / Officer (depending on experience, £14-16,000, pro rata, 3 days a week):
Company: Tindal Street Press | Location: Birmingham | Closing date: 25 May 2012
Does the challenge of championing fiction excite you? Can you write attention-grabbing copy? Could you build a buzz about a novel online and through social media? Do you consume a wide variety of media and have ideas how to interest journalists in our books? Could you plan and execute a campaign to target a wide variety of people interested in creative writing courses?
Tindal Street Press is an award-winning independent fiction publisher based in Birmingham, partnered with Atlantic and the Independent Alliance to sell our fiction across the UK and internationally. We have a reputation for publishing new writers who go on to win prizes. Recently we have launched Tindal Street Masterclasses, a series of courses for aspiring writers.
A superb opportunity has arisen for a creative, highly-organised and dynamic publicity and marketing assistant / officer to join our small team, working 3 days a week on both our fiction titles and our Masterclasses. It is a chance to develop first-rate skills in marketing and promoting fiction.
You’ll be responsible for a range of tasks from administrative support, through to conceiving and executing your own campaigns. You’ll be an organised self-starter, comfortable with approaching journalists and event organisers as well as liaising with authors. You’ll have a flair for copywriting for a variety of audiences, a keen attention to detail and an ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise tasks.
We are looking for someone with a passion for books and ideas, outstanding organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure. You will be resilient and a creative thinker, as at home online as in traditional media. Previous office experience, preferably in marketing/PR or publishing, is essential.
