GREAT NEWS…Chitty’s Cakes are now selling ‘BEE9 Urban Honey’ in their shop!
The delicious honey, produced by the 50,000 urban bees that live in hives on our roof, is now available to purchase (in jars) for £5 from the equally delicious independent cake shop on Gibb Street.
The hardworking honey bees here in Digbeth are looked after by tenant Tim Vivian (Total Produce), an experienced beekeeper who has been keeping bees at Hanbury Hall in Worcestershire since 2005.
The honey’s superb labels (see below) were designed by Sarah Martin-Allon, a Visual Communication student at Birmingham City University, who won a student design competition back in 2016 to create the branding for the new product.
Part of the revenue raised from the sale of the honey will be donated to the fabulous bee charity Bees Abroad.
