Codemasters, the iconic British video game developers and publishers, are the latest industry leader to joining us here in the Custard Factory Quarter.

The software firm, who are acclaimed for their huge selling racing games (DiRT Rally, GRID, Micro Machines, and the official games of the FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™), will be moving into their new facility in the middle of the Quarter in April.

Codemasters are bringing a team of around 120 of some of the most accomplished and trailblazing game developers in the industry.

Custard Factory/Fazeley Studio owner, Lucan Gray, said: “Codemasters will add significantly to the impressive list of products being conceived, created and made right here in Digbeth and sold all over the world. We are thrilled they are coming, particularly as we will together launch a quarterly workshop to promote interaction with creative businesses in the city and give people who are interested an opportunity to learn from an industry leader.”

Codemasters themselves have also spoken with excitement about their move from Edgbaston into the city centre. We spoke to Nick Craig, Studio Manager for Codemasters Birmingham, about why he thinks Digbeth is the place to be for tech companies, and he teasingly hinted at some of the exciting work that’s going to be occurring within their workspace in the Custard Factory.

Nick enthused: “We’re looking forward to becoming part of the vibrant community that the Custard Factory has created. This will move the studio to an area of the city much more suited to our unique business and company personality. From our new home we will continue to create some of the most successful racing games in the world and expand our successful portfolio of products onto mobile later this year.”

Welcome to the Custard Factory Quarter, Codemasters!
