If you go down to the Custard Factory today, you’re sure of a big surprise…
We’re incredibly excited to be supporting The Big Sleuth, a free public art event taking place this summer which will see up to 100 giant bear sculptures leave their paw prints all over Birmingham for 10 weeks.
The Big Sleuth, so named because sleuth is the collective noun for a group of bears, will see the various individually designed, 165cm tall, sculptures appear at prominent locations across the city, inspiring residents and tourists to uncover Bear-mingham’s cultural gems and discover areas of the city they may not have explored before.
Here at the Custard Factory, we have two colourful bears to come and look for. Sonny, a large bear with not only the sun on his back, but the entire cosmos! Designed by artist Si Peplow, Sonny is a real sight to behold.
Not far away from Sonny is our baby bear, Ray. This bright and cuddly cub was designed for us by the talented children from Hall Green Infant & Nursery School! Thanks guys!
At the end of the trail, the bears will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
The Big Sleuth is the sequel to 2015’s The Big Hoot, which raised an incredible total of more than £625,000 to support the hospital’s pioneering work.
